Ski Lessons in Utah
You’re planning your Utah winter vacation and have all the elements covered: travel, lodging, restaurant recommendations, ski school lessons for the kids, activity options for non-ski time, packing lists and ski rental arrangements. But you may omit one important addition that ensures ski and snowboard vacation fun: adult instruction.
Yes, instruction for you. Even if you’ve been skiing or riding every season since you were a kid in ski school, there are benefits to hiring an instructor or joining a group when you’re visiting a mountain or region that’s new to you.
Fortunately, Utah’s 15 resorts offer a range of ski school programs, clinics and guided tours catered to any age, ability and specialty — skiing, snowboarding, Telemark, freestyle, touring and even SnoGo biking.
Finding the Perfect Ski & Snowboard Lessons
Lessons are great for first-timers and skiers and snowboarders looking to refine their skills. You’ll see people from ages two to 60+ learning the ropes with talented ski instructors at all 15 of Utah’s ski resorts. Lessons can be with a group or private, and adaptive ski lessons are also available via recreation programs like Wasatch Adaptive Sports and the National Ability Center (Read: When Turns Are About Adaptability, Not Disability). View the complete list of ski schools in Utah. January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard month, and some resorts offer special discounts.

Ski Lessons Near Salt Lake City & Provo
Alta’s Alf Engen Ski School
Skiers of all ages (age 4+) can select from group lessons, private lessons and multi-week programs. Note that snowboarding is not permitted at Alta Ski Area. For adults, ski lessons include private lessons, guided tours, Telemark lessons and camps — Performance Ski Camp, Jump Start, Alta Lodge Powder Tracks and Women Only.
Brighton Snowsports School
Sign the kiddos up for a group lesson (ages 4+), private lesson (ages 3+) or multi-week sessions — Little Rippers, Young Shredders and Freestyle Camps. Brighton Snowsports School also offers private lessons, group sessions, workshops, camps, multi-week programs and SnoGo bike private lessons for adults. All skiers and riders (ages 8+) can learn to ski under the stars during a night skiing session.
Solitude Ski & Ride School
Kids (ages 4+) and teens can level up in a group lesson setting, one-on-one instruction, a Cruisers multi-week program, or ski team programs for big mountain, freeride and racing. Meanwhile, adults can pick from private or group lessons, Women on Wednesdays or adaptive private instruction.
Snowbird Mountain School
Snowbird offers group and private ski and board lessons for children (age 3+) and teens. Choose from a single-day option, multi-week ski camps or the Snowbird Ski Team (age 7+) for alpine, freeride and snowboard disciplines. Adults can choose from private, group lessons, a Women’s Ski Program, Snowboard Camp, or All-Mountain Guided Skiing.
Sundance Ski & Snowboard School
Group, private and semi-private ski and snowboard lessons are arranged according to ability level and age (children ages 3-5 must be in a private lesson). Sundance offers Ladies Day Clinics, Multi-Week Evening Programs, a FreeRide Ski Program, a FreeRide Board Program and Learn to Ski/Ride Packages.
Ski Lessons Near Ogden & Logan
Snowbasin Snow Sports School
Choose from youth group lessons (ages 3+), multi-week programs, winter camps, or the all-mountain Adventure Team. Private lessons for skiers and riders get the bonus of early lift access. Adult skiers and riders enjoy group lessons, Adaptive Sports, Women on Wednesdays, or a Learn & Earn Program, a multi-year program for first-timers looking to become snow sports enthusiasts.
Powder Mountain Snow Sports School
Choose from private ski and snowboard lessons, first-time-specific sessions, or the children's Powder Club (ages 5+), along with multi-week programs: an all-mountain Adventure Team (ages 5+), a Locals Program and a Women's Program. Snowbasin participates with Ogden Valley Adaptive Sports to open outdoor recreation for people with disabilities.
Nordic Valley Ski School
Choose from ski and snowboard group lessons (ages 8+), private lessons or a Family & Friends private session. Multi-week offerings include an 8-week Mountain Program during the day and after-work and after-school programs at night under the lights.
Cherry Peak Snowsports School
Open to all ages and abilities, skiers and snowboarders can opt into first-timer sessions, family private (4-person minimum) lessons, multi-week lessons, women-specific packages and group, private or semi-private classes specific to your ability. Watch for Super Pack specials that offer multi-week group lessons for first-timers, beginners and intermediate.
Beaver Mountain Snowsports School
For adults, Beaver Mountain rolls out a Wild Women program for women only, a Learn-to-Turn package for adult beginners, and a 7-week ski or snowboard lessons series. Parents can sign their kiddos (age 4+) up for holiday lessons, beginners packages, or the KitCat or Mountain Adventures weekend series. Private and adaptive lessons are available as well.
Ski Lessons Near Park City
Deer Valley Ski School
Adult skiers (snowboarding is not permitted at Deer Valley) can sign up for full- or half-day private or group lessons. Ladies enjoy the Women’s Three-Day Program. Kids' classes are organized by age and ability. Parents can choose from single sessions (age 3+) or multi-week ski programs, such as a Teen Escape (ages 13-17) or the Friday, Saturday or Sunday Specialty Programs (age 3+). Adaptive private instruction is offered as well.
Park City Mountain Ski & Snowboard School
Park City Mountain offers private ski and snowboard lessons (full-day and half-day) for first-timers, beginners and intermediate-level shredders. A Masters Single Day Drop-In program offers gate training for advanced adults (age 18+). Children can enjoy full-day ski and snowboard group lessons (age 3+) for beginners and intermediates, while the older set (age 7+) enjoys similar options or opt-in to an advanced All-Terrain Program.
Woodward Park City
This action sports playground offers private, group and multi-week programs for kids and adult children. Purchase private lessons in one, two or three-hour increments or sign up for half-day or full-day ski and snowboard group lessons. The Woodward Mountain Kids (age 4+) and Development Teams (age 7+) provide kids with a multi-week progression program.
Ski Lessons in Southern Utah
Brian Head Ski and Snowboard School
Brian Head’s kids camps offer private lessons for skiers and snowboarders (age 3+), ski group lessons (age 5-6) and Mountain Explorers group lessons for skiers and snowboarders (age 7+). Adults can select from 2.5-hour group lessons for beginners and intermediates or private lesson options, such as a 2.5-hour lesson, 6-hour lesson, adaptive 2.5-hour lesson or nighttime 2-hour lesson.
Eagle Point Ski and Snowboard School
Book a one-on-one ski or snowboard lesson for one hour, half day (morning or afternoon) or full day. A Learn Together private lesson allows a parent to join their child. Early bird and lunchtime special private lessons take advantage of reduced rates. Adult group lessons occur in the morning and afternoons and can be combined for a full day. Eaglets (age 5+) and Learn to Soar (age 8+) programs allow group instruction for kids.
