This Privacy Policy Statement (the "Statement") is provided by the Utah Office of Tourism ("we," "us," or "our") in compliance with Utah Code Section 63D-2-103. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Statement explains how we handle your information when you visit this webpage. We want you to understand how your data may be collected, used, and secured.

Scope
This privacy policy statement applies to all Utah Office of Tourism Websites.
What Information We Collect
Unless you choose to make your personally identifiable information available to the State, the State does not collect such information from you. For the purposes of this policy “personally identifiable information” means any information collected online that could serve to identify an individual, such as:
- First and last name
- Physical address
- Email address
- Telephone number
- Social Security number
- Credit card information
- Account Number
- Bank account information
- Any combination of personal information that could be used to determine identity
Except where specified, you do not have to provide personally identifiable information to visit or download information from the State’s websites. The State does not use or place spyware on your computer. Be aware that government agencies may request personally identifiable information from you in order to perform requested specialized services.
The following non-personally identifiable information may be automatically collected and retained through the use of cookies or functionally equivalent technology if you look or search through the State’s websites, download information, or interact with the State’s advertisements:
- The Internet domain and Internet Protocol (IP) address of the device you are using to access the State’s websites (such as a computer or mobile phone);
- The type of browser and operating system used to visit the State’s websites;
- The date and time of when you access the State’s websites;
- Which portions of the websites you visit;
- General location data based on your IP address; and
- Interactions with the State’s advertisements.
How We Use Your Information
The data collected may be provided to third parties, as specified in this privacy policy. The data collected also serve as part of the State’s statistical analysis about the use of its websites so the State may better design online services and improve access to them, and help the State monitor how effective its advertisements are at inspiring you to visit Utah. The State does not attempt to gain personally identifiable information about individual users and associate it with IP addresses unless explicitly stated as part of a government agency service. The State does not use the information automatically collected to ascertain your personally identifiable information. The State may detect user IP addresses for providing location based user information and services and may disclose IP addresses to the third parties specified in this privacy policy, pursuant to Utah Code § 63D-2 and § 63G-2-206(6)(b).
Disclosure Practices
We care about your privacy. We only share your information when necessary. Here's how we handle disclosures:
Google AdWords/Doubleclick
The State (including VisitUtah.com) uses Google AdWords and Google DoubleClick services. In addition to complying with the terms above, the State complies with Google’s policy requirements.
Google’s remarketing and similar audiences AdWords features permit the State to reach people who previously visited its websites. Google’s interest categories, interest-based advertising, and demographic and location targeting features are similarly used to reach people who are likely to have interest in State advertising based on previous web searches. Google and its vendors display State advertising across the internet to IP addresses that have visited State websites.
Google’s DoubleClick service uses the State ads to collect analytical data for planning purposes. The service does not collect personally identifiable information.
Google and its vendors use cookies to serve ads based on past visits to the State’s websites. A “cookie” is a small piece of information that a website can store in a designated file on your computer or Web-enabled device. Cookies can be used, among other things, to identify your computer or device when you log into a website and may track your IP address in order to do so. Information about how you can opt out of Google's use of cookies is available at Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page or, to opt out of only DoubleClick’s use of cookies, by visiting the DoubleClick opt-out page.
The State does not use or associate personally identifiable information with remarketing lists, cookies, data feeds, or other anonymous identifiers. Furthermore, the State does not use or associate targeting information, such as demographics or location, with any personally identifiable information collected from ads or their landing pages. The State does not share any personally identifiable information with Google through its remarketing tags or any product data feeds which might be associated with its ads, nor does it send Google precise location information without obtaining your consent.
Marketing Services
UOT partners with third-party service providers that may use various cookie Technologies to gather anonymized and aggregated data to measure the effect our ads have in generating travel to Utah. These may include things such as the number of visitors who travel from a given city to Utah and which ads were most likely to reach travelers to Utah.
How Personally Identifiable Information Is Used by the State
Email or other information requests sent to a State website may be saved and used to respond to the request, forward the request to the appropriate agency, communicate updates to the State site that may be of interest to citizens, or provide the State web designer with valuable customer feedback to assist in improving the websites.
Any personally identifiable information an individual provides to a State site will be used solely by the State, its entities, and third party agents with whom it has contracted to perform a state function on its behalf, unless the information is designated as a public record by an individual State agency as authorized under Utah Code § 63G-2, and the State’s website provides conspicuous notice that such information is subject to public access.
Collection and Use of Information — Children’s Personally Identifiable Information
Except as otherwise permitted by law, the State does not knowingly collect and use or disclose the personally identifiable information of a child under the age of 13.
Personally Identifiable Information Available or Collected from State Websites
All records that are prepared, owned, received, or retained by the State that may be reproduced by certain means are considered public, unless they are private, controlled or protected as outlined in Utah Code § 63G-2 or are records to which access is restricted according to court rule, other State law, federal law, or federal regulation. Information that is generally considered public record under Utah Code § 63G-2 - and not made confidential elsewhere in the Utah Code or by federal law - may be subject to electronic access through State websites.
Personally Identifiable Information is used by the governmental entities for the purpose of conducting official state business. A governmental entity may share Personally Identifiable Information with another governmental entity if it is designated as a record that is private, controlled, or protected as described in Utah Code § 63G-2-206 unless such data sharing is expressly prohibited, authorized or required by federal law, state law, or federal regulation. In some instances a Governor’s directive or executive order may limit or prohibit data sharing even though Section 63G-2-206 may permit such data sharing.

Opt-in and Opt-out Browsers
In addition, when you use the Site, you can change your web browser’s settings to reflect your cookie preferences for cookies directly from the site you are on or for third-party cookies. Each browser is different, but usually these settings are under the “options” or “preferences” menu.
Opt-out of Third Party Networks
If you do not wish to have this information used to serve you interest-based advertisements, you may decline to receive interest-based ads through the ad vendor’s preferences tab. Digital ads have a small box in the top right corner of the ad. Clicking or tapping on this tab opens the ad vendor’s opt-out settings. Please note this does not stop you from being served advertisements. You will continue to receive generic advertisements.

Withdrawing Consent
Where you have provided your consent to receive email communications, you have the right to withdraw your consent to our processing of your information and your use of the Site. For example, you can withdraw your consent to email marketing by using the unsubscribe link any of our email communications. You can choose to withdraw your consent to our processing of your information and your use of the Services at any time by emailing info@visitutah.com to request that your personal information be deleted, except for information we are required to retain.
Procedures for Access by the User To View Or Correct Personally Identifiable Information
Unless otherwise prohibited by State law, federal law, or federal regulation, an individual may access and correct Personally Identifiable Information whether or not the inaccuracy was created by accident, unauthorized access, or a change in circumstances. The State also reserves the right to use any legally appropriate measures to prevent, monitor, and investigate any attempt to deface, delete, or otherwise tamper with or abuse a State website, server, database, information system, or other State technology asset. Keeping Your Information Secure
The State is committed to data security and the data integrity of Personally Identifiable Information available from or collected by State websites. The State has taken precautions to protect personally identifiable information from loss, misuse, or alteration. Any authorized third parties responsible for this information are committed to the same principles, and are required by contract to follow the same policies and guidelines as the State of Utah in protecting this information. Visitors should be aware, however, that even though protections are in place, the State cannot guarantee against the occurrence of hardware failure, unauthorized intrusion, or other technical problems.
Non-State Websites
Visitors may link to various websites from State website pages. The State is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external sites. Many of these sites, particularly those in the private sector, may not be subject to Utah Code § 63G-2, other sections of the Utah Code, or federal law. Those visiting external sites are advised to check the applicable privacy statement and be cautious about providing personally identifiable information without a clear understanding of how the information will be used.

Personally identifiable information is not classification of records under Title 63G, Chapter 2, Government Records Access and Management Act.
