The Hike
The arch is right on the edge of a 500-foot cliff, part of a 1,200-foot drop into Buck Canyon. You can get a keyhole view of White Rim country through the arch. If you step back a few steps, you can also frame the lofty La Sal Mountains (usually snow-topped in the spring) with the arch.
The trail is well marked and partly on slickrock. It’s an easy hike, but if you have children along, watch them carefully around the arch. There is no fence to prevent a sure-to-be-fatal fall. Do not climb on the arch.
If you look carefully, you can also see another arch from Mesa Arch Overlook — Washer Woman Arch — off to the left when facing the arch.
