TRAX Light Rail
The Wasatch Front has a light rail system operated by Utah Transit Authority (UTA) called TRAX. TRAX serves Salt Lake City International Airport, the Intermodal Hub, the Delta Center (home of the Utah Jazz), Historic Temple Square, City Center, the University of Utah and Rio Tinto Stadium (home of Real Salt Lake).
The TRAX Green Line currently runs from Salt Lake City International Airport to downtown connections in downtown Salt Lake City and on to West Valley. The Blue Line runs from the Intermodal Hub, a couple of blocks west of downtown (connections with FrontRunner to Ogden or Provo and Amtrak's California Zephyr), through downtown, and on to the south end of the Salt Lake Valley (Draper Town Center near 12300 South). The red line runs eastward to the University of Utah and the University of Utah Medical Center, and westward to South Jordan and Daybreak.
Transfers to the eastbound Red Line take place at the Courthouse stop at 450 So. Main Street, which is important for travelers heading to the University area who have arrived from the airport or FrontRunner commuter rail. There is also an "S" Line streetcar connecting Salt Lake's popular Sugar House district with the main TRAX lines.
TRAX stops near all three of Salt Lake City's major malls, the central business district, Temple Square, Gallivan Plaza and many other top visitor destinations.
Please consult UTA for updates, schedules, additional information and current fares. Most rail trips cost between $2.50 (one way) and $5 (round trip) or $6.25 for a day pass as of 2015. There is also a free fare zone in downtown Salt Lake City, convenient for conference attendees and downtown visitors.
